Eilen 7.6. Ranskan meripelastusjärjestö SNSM:n pelastusvene kaatui ollessaan kovassa myrskyssä matkalla pelastustehtävälle. Seitsemästä vapaaehtoisesta miehistönjäsenestä kolme menehtyi onnettomuudessa.

Suomen Meripelastusseura kunnioittaa menehtyneiden kollegoidemme muistoa suruliputuksella eri puolilla maata yhdistyksissä, toimintakeskuksessamme sekä koululaiva Jenny Wihurilla.

Yesterday June 7 the French SNSM lifeboat capsized while travelling to a rescue mission in heavy weather. Out of the seven voluntary crew members, three lost their lives in the accident. The Finnish Lifeboat Institution wants to express our deepest condolences to our French colleagues and their families. We are flying flags at half mast in our stations, training centre and training vessel Jenny Wihuri.

Look sharp! That Hand is you, Old Sailor.
And you’ll be sailing out on Heavenly Seas.
So may the wind be ever at your back.
Fair weather. And God speed!
